Lymm Historic Transport Day – Drive-In Status.

We are absolutely delighted that potentially we will be able to go ahead with Transport Day this year on June 27th as we fall just the right side of the Step 4 date on June 21st. Fingers crossed that the date does not shift.

At this stage there are still a lot of uncertainties about what will and will not be considered safe or wise by that time.  One thing we feel we do need to avoid for obvious reasons  is the risk of creating  dense crowding in any area.

It is with this in mind that just for this year we have reluctantly decided to not hold the drive in parade at the start of the day.

Apart from the crowds along several hundred yards through the village there is a particular issue with the surge of people heading for the field immediately after the parade has been through.  We appreciate this will be a disappointment to those who were keen to participate. We are disappointed too but as one of the first post Step 4 events in the area we take our safety responsibilities very seriously and hope you will understand.

We are still planning a great day both on the field and at other village venues and look forward to seeing you as we aim to make it a memorable “welcome back” for all our friends in the many clubs and individuals who support us.

Nearer the date we will put out some publicity, just locally, to remind folk that nearly 400 vehicles will be arriving in the village between 8am and 10.15am. I am sure this will encourage a  smaller but nevertheless appreciative audience to gather to welcome the arrivals.  Clubs are welcome to arrive in convoy and we look forward to seeing traction engines steaming round the village during the day.
